Clothing and gifts made by Diana Mehira and students are clearly labelled. In our bid to be greener, we are trying to ensure our gifts and goodies are made using material remnents, old jewllery or beading from clothing. We will not knowingly copy any one elses designs, products may be hand sewn in some cases, and all hand beaded. Due to the above reasons, product supply is limited, but requests can be taken should you have an idea in mind. Feel free to use our ideas to recycle your own clothing waste, but if you can't be bothered- feel free to purchase our products! Should you have any old jewellery or clothing which is not suitable to give to a charity shop contact me if you wish to donate so we can turn it into something lovely.
We also sell second hand and some new bellydance clothing, if you have a costume you would like to sell contact me to discuss putting it on the site.
If you are a student of Diana Mehira you can order in person or via email, and save the postage as i will bring items you are interested in to class.
For items ordered, i will try to re use packaging from items i have been sent or old gift wrap rather than buying new.
Fair Trade means the people who produce the products receive a fair wage for their work, and have good working conditions, equal pay.
I use Namaste uk to supply my clothing, Namaste has been trading fairly for ten years. They travel to their suppliers several times a year and speak to them regularly. Most products are bought from primary producers. If a supplier is needed Namaste ensures that they pay their workers a fair price per piece.
Goods are sourced from Nepal, Indonesia, Thailand and India. Clothing is dyed using azo free dyes, creating a safer working environment and better for the earth. Many of their products are made from recycled materials, remnents are used to make bags, rugs etc also. Namaste supports many local charities and orphanges, they believe in trade not aid. By buying Namaste products you are giving valuable employment to craftspeople who use generations old techniques.
Clothing made from recycled materials is unique, you can order a general colour but exact design will vary from piece to piece.
